"I have no idea whether my DMs actually convert."
It is the most common complaint there is. Comments arrive, DMs go out, some people buy — and there is no way to see which DM produced which sale. So the decision about what to do more of gets made on a feeling.
Revenue Attribution answers exactly that question.
What it does
Every link in a DM is tagged automatically. When somebody taps it and buys, five things are recorded:
- Which automation sent the DM
- When the DM was opened
- When the link was tapped
- What was bought
- How much the order was worth
The dashboard then says it in one line: "the Welcome DM automation earned X this month".
Why it changes what you do
- You can see the winner. Put more into the automation that is earning.
- You can kill the losers. An automation with zero sales is costing you attention.
- You can copy what works. Duplicate the format of the DM that performs, not the one you like.
- Year-end is easier when revenue is already attributed.
How it works
Step 1: Link tagging
You write "Here it is: example.com/saree". It goes out as a tagged link carrying the campaign and the recipient, so the click can be matched later.
Step 2: Click tracking
The tap is recorded and the person is redirected to your original URL. They see a redirect, nothing more.
Step 3: The conversion webhook
Your store — Shopify, WooCommerce or Razorpay — posts back when a payment completes, and the payment is matched to the click.
Step 4: The dashboard
DMs sent, link taps, conversions, revenue, and the same numbers broken down per automation.
An illustration of the shape, not a promise. Your own numbers are the only ones worth acting on — a jewellery brand and a coaching page look nothing alike.
What you usually find in the first month
Almost always the same thing: one automation is doing most of the work and one you were proud of is doing nothing. The point of attribution is not the total at the top. It is the breakdown underneath, which tells you where to spend next month’s effort.
