How it works
When you connect, ViralDM creates one spreadsheet in your Google Drive called "ViralDM — Leads & events", with a tab called "Events".
From then on, every event adds one row: Timestamp, Event, Name, Email, Phone, Platform and Message (the amount is added to the message for sales).
ViralDM can only see that one spreadsheet. Google gives it access to files it created and nothing else in your Drive.
What goes across
- All six business events: new leads from DMs, bio page leads, form answers, bookings, store orders and DM payments.
- Rows from the Flow Builder steps "Google Sheets row" and "Send to a connector".
One click
Connect Google Sheets in one click
- In ViralDM open Connectors and press Connect on Google Sheets.
- Pick your Google account and press Allow.
- You are back on Connectors and the card says Connected. Press "Open sheet" to see it.
- Press 🧪 Test. A test row appears in the sheet within a few seconds.
The other way
Use an Apps Script link instead
Prefer your own sheet layout? A small Google Apps Script can receive ViralDM events and add rows to any sheet you choose. A webhook is a web address (URL) that one app calls the moment something happens, so the other app hears about it instantly.
Apps Script Webhook URL
- Open the Google Sheet you want the rows in.
- Go to Extensions → Apps Script.
- Delete what is there and paste the script shown below, then press Save.
- Press Deploy → New deployment. Choose the type "Web app".
- Set "Execute as" to Me and "Who has access" to Anyone. Press Deploy and allow the access Google asks for.
- Copy the Web app URL. It starts with https://script.google.com/macros/s/ and ends with /exec.
- Paste it in ViralDM and press Save & Connect.
"Anyone" only means ViralDM can call the link without signing in. Keep the link private — whoever has it can add rows to that sheet.
Apps Script (paste into the editor)
function doPost(e) {
var d = JSON.parse((e.postData && e.postData.contents) || '{}');
var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getSheets()[0];
sheet.appendRow([new Date(), d.type || '', d.name || d.username || '', d.email || '',
d.phone || '', d.platform || '', d.message || '', d.amount || '']);
return ContentService.createTextOutput('ok');
}After connecting
Check it works
- Press 🧪 Test on the connector in ViralDM. It sends one test event, so you can see it arrive before a real lead does.
- On the Connectors page, open the connector: it shows how many events were sent, when the last one went, how many failed, and the reason for the last failure.
- You can also send a person to this connector from inside an automation: in the Flow Builder add the step "Send to a connector" and pick it. The step does nothing if the connector is not connected.
The card says "No spreadsheet — reconnect Google Sheets".
The sheet ViralDM created was deleted or access was removed. Disconnect and press Connect again; a new sheet is created.
I renamed or moved the sheet.
That is fine. ViralDM writes to the same file by its id, wherever it is in your Drive. Do not delete the "Events" tab.
Apps Script: the Test says "answered HTTP 302" but the row is in my sheet.
Google runs your script (and adds the row) first, then answers with a redirect (HTTP 302). ViralDM does not follow redirects, so it marks each Apps Script delivery as failed even when the row was added. If the rows arrive, the link works. The one-click connection does not have this problem, so prefer it.
Apps Script: nothing arrives.
Check the deployment is a Web app with access "Anyone", and that you pasted the /exec link of the latest deployment. After editing the script, deploy a new version.
Can ViralDM read my other Google files?
No. The one-click connection uses Google's "only files this app created" permission. ViralDM sees the one sheet it made.
Can I add my own columns?
Yes, to the right of the Message column. ViralDM always fills the first seven columns of the Events tab.
