Connect Shopify to ViralDM

Your AI Agents answer "is it in stock?" and "where is my order?" live inside the DM, and Shopify orders are passed on to your other apps.

How it works

OUT of Shopify, into the DM: once your store is connected, your AI Agents read products (price, stock, link) and an order's status from your store while they reply to a DM. Plain keyword replies (no AI) do not look anything up.

An order is only found for the person who placed it: the customer gives the order number, and it must match together with the email or phone they ordered with — the same two things Shopify's own order page asks for. The address is never sent, and a person gets 5 tries a day. Your AI assistant (MCP) and the ViralDM app can look orders up too.

IN to ViralDM: with one-click connect, ViralDM switches on the "new order" event in your store by itself. Each new order is passed on, with the total, email, phone and items, to your connected apps and to your own webhooks, as shopify.orders/create. A webhook is a web address (URL) that one app calls the moment something happens, so the other app hears about it instantly.

One-click connect installs the ViralDM app on your store. It asks for two permissions only: read products (with stock) and read orders. It cannot change anything in your store.

Every order Shopify sends is checked against Shopify's signature before ViralDM uses it, so nobody else can send fake orders in your store's name.

Removing the ViralDM app in Shopify (Settings → Apps) switches this connector off straight away.

What goes across

ViralDM reads from Shopify: products, stock and order status (for your AI Agents' DM replies, and for your AI assistant through MCP).
Shopify → ViralDM: new orders (on by itself with one-click connect), passed on to your connectors and webhooks.

One click

Connect Shopify in one click

In ViralDM open Connectors and press Connect on Shopify.
Type your store's Shopify address — the one that ends in .myshopify.com (Shopify admin → Settings → Domains shows it) — and press Continue to Shopify.
Shopify opens and shows what the ViralDM app may read. Press Install.
You come back to Connectors with Shopify connected. Press 🧪 Test: it reads your shop's name to show the connection works.

The other way

Paste a token instead (stores with an app made before 2026)

Only for a store that already has a custom app made in its Shopify admin before 1 January 2026. Every other store: use Connect above — Shopify no longer lets a store make an app with a token you can copy.

Store URL

Type your store's Shopify address, for example your-store.myshopify.com (Shopify admin → Settings → Domains shows it).

Admin API access token

In Shopify admin open Settings, then the apps section → Develop apps. This works for a custom app made in your Shopify admin before 1 January 2026.
Open the app, for example one named ViralDM.
Under Configuration → Admin API scopes, tick read_products and read_orders, and save.
Press Install app. Under API credentials, reveal the Admin API access token once and copy it. It starts with shpat_.

Since 1 January 2026 new apps are made in Shopify's Dev Dashboard and show a Client ID and a Client secret, not a token you can copy. Those do not go in this box — use one-click Connect instead.

Webhook Secret (optional)

Only for order events. In ViralDM press "📡 My Webhook URLs" on Connectors and copy the Shopify URL.
In Shopify admin open Settings → Notifications → Webhooks and press Create webhook.
Event: Order creation. Format: JSON. Paste the URL and save.
On the same Webhooks page Shopify shows the code your webhooks are signed with (a long string of letters and numbers, unique to your store). Paste it here. Once it is saved, ViralDM refuses any order that is not signed with it.

Connect says the store address is wrong.

Use the address that ends in .myshopify.com, not your own domain. Shopify admin → Settings → Domains shows it.

Stock and order replies do not work.

They come from an AI Agent replying to the DM — switch one on for that automation; a plain keyword reply does not read your store. If an AI Agent is on: one-click, disconnect Shopify and connect it again, and approve both permissions. Pasted token: check it starts with shpat_ and the app has read_products and read_orders; after changing scopes, reinstall the app and copy the new token.

A customer says their order is not found.

They need the order number from their confirmation email or SMS, and the email or phone they ordered with — both must match the order in Shopify. A one-click store also needs Shopify's customer-data access for the ViralDM app, or Shopify leaves the order email and phone empty and nothing matches.

The card says new orders are not reaching ViralDM.

Disconnect Shopify and connect it again — that switches the order event on again.

Orders do not reach my connectors (pasted token).

The order webhook is a separate step for a pasted token. Add the Shopify URL from "My Webhook URLs" under Settings → Notifications → Webhooks. If you also saved a webhook secret, it must be the one shown on that page.

Can someone read another customer's order in a DM?

No. An order is only read out when its order number and the email or phone it was placed with both match. A wrong number and someone else's order get the same "not found", the address is never sent, and each person gets 5 tries a day.

Does ViralDM keep my customers' data?

No order is stored. ViralDM keeps a short line about each order it passed on (the email and the amount — no phone, no address) in your Activity for 30 days. When a customer asks Shopify to erase their data, ViralDM deletes their lines; two days after you remove the app, Shopify tells ViralDM and it deletes the connection and all of those lines.
