How it works
This direction is IN: Razorpay tells ViralDM when a payment happens. A webhook is a web address (URL) that one app calls the moment something happens, so the other app hears about it instantly.
One-click connect: you sign in to Razorpay on Razorpay's own page and allow ViralDM read-only access. Nothing to copy or paste — ViralDM's own webhook already receives your payments from then on, and every one is checked against Razorpay's signature before it is used.
Read-only means ViralDM can see your payments and nothing else: it cannot move money, refund, or change anything in your Razorpay account.
Every event Razorpay sends is passed on, with the amount, email, phone and order id, to your connected apps (Telegram, Slack, Sheets…) and to your own webhooks subscribed to it, as razorpay.<event> (for example razorpay.payment.captured).
If you take ViralDM's access back in Razorpay, the connector switches itself off and says so on the Connectors page.
This is separate from the payment gateway you use to collect payments inside DMs. Those sales already fire payment.received on their own.
What goes across
- Razorpay → ViralDM: your payment events (for example payment.captured, payment.failed, refund.processed). Read-only — ViralDM never sends anything to Razorpay.
- ViralDM → your connectors and webhooks: the same event, named razorpay.<event>.
One click
Connect Razorpay in one click
- In ViralDM open Connectors and press Connect Razorpay.
- Razorpay opens. Sign in with the account your payments arrive on, check that ViralDM asks for read-only access, and press Allow.
- You come back to Connectors with Razorpay connected — the card shows your Razorpay account id. Press 🧪 Test: it reads one payment to show the connection works. Nothing is created or changed.
- From now on every payment reaches your alerts and connectors. If you had added a ViralDM webhook in Razorpay by hand before, delete it there so nothing arrives twice.
The other way
Use a webhook secret instead (add the webhook yourself)
Only if one-click Connect is not available yet, or you prefer to set the webhook up yourself. Two places: copy your URL from ViralDM, then paste it in Razorpay.
Your ViralDM webhook URL
- In ViralDM open Connectors and press "📡 My Webhook URLs" at the top.
- Copy the Razorpay URL. It is private to your account — do not share it.
- In the Razorpay Dashboard open Accounts & Settings → Webhooks (under Website and app settings) and press + Add New Webhook.
- Paste the URL in the URL box, type a secret, and under Active Events tick the events you want — payment.captured is the usual one; add payment.failed and refund.processed if you want those too.
- Press Create Webhook.
Webhook Secret
- Razorpay lets you type a secret when you create the webhook. Use a long random text.
- In ViralDM press + Connect on Razorpay, paste the same secret and press Save & Connect.
- Once a secret is saved, ViralDM checks Razorpay's signature on every event and refuses any event that is not signed with it — so a stranger who sees your URL cannot send fake payments. The two secrets must match exactly.
The card says "Razorpay access was revoked — connect again".
ViralDM's access was removed in Razorpay, so no payments arrive. Press Disconnect on the card, then Connect Razorpay and allow access again.
I connected, but no payments arrive.
Check you signed in to the Razorpay account your payments really arrive on — the card shows its account id. If it is the wrong one, disconnect and connect again with the right account.
"Incoming webhooks are not configured on this server".
Incoming webhooks are switched off on the server right now. Contact ViralDM support.
Razorpay shows failed deliveries with "Invalid token".
The URL was copied partly. Copy the full Razorpay URL from "My Webhook URLs" again — it ends with ?token= and a long code.
Razorpay shows failed deliveries with "Invalid signature".
The secret saved in ViralDM is not the one this webhook uses in Razorpay. Edit the webhook in Razorpay, set a new secret, and paste the same one on the Razorpay card in ViralDM.
Do I need this to sell inside DMs?
No. Payments in DMs use the payment gateway you set up in ViralDM. This connector is for passing Razorpay events on to your other apps.
Can ViralDM take or refund money with this?
No. One-click connect asks Razorpay for read-only access only, and the webhook way only receives events. Nothing in your Razorpay account can be changed from ViralDM.
